Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. She's released over 20 albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk-rock and alternative rock however it has additional influences from punk funk hip hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco has been widely acknowledged as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the first pioneer in DIY music. It was one of the pioneers to create her own label in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23 1970 the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco and Dante Americo DiFranco, who made acquaintance while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian descent and her mother was born in Montreal. Ani diFranco wrote and sang the track 32 Flavors. The track comes from her 1995 album Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio album. A version of the track appears on the film soundtrack to the 1999 Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco has since apologized when it was discovered she was hosting a 3-day workshop on the site of a Louisiana former slave plantation. Although she cancelled the workshop, many people (including our own paper) were not able to feel apology. DiFranco apologized for her actions several days afterward. Though she's known for her role as the Little Folksinger her music spans many genres and collaborators ranging between Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. The singer hails from New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is married to Kristen Ford. The first song she wrote was at the age of 14 years old. She performed them in bars and coffee shops throughout her teenage years. DiFranco graduated from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at the age of 16. Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school in the year 16 and began attending classes at Buffalo State College. Her new baritone guitar was a custom Alvarez made after several consultations between her myself and Chrys Johnson, who was the rep for artists for Alvarez when the guitar was made. It is built of solid woods. It has a cedar top with mahogany sides and the back. The guitar also comes with The System 600 Preamp. DiFranco is a resident of New Orleans, with her family, which includes her husband and two kids. Lefty is their dog friend who wanders around while she talks.
