Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. She's released over 20 albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk-rock and alternative rock however it has additional influences from punk funk hip hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco has been widely acknowledged as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the first pioneer in DIY music. Though she's known for her role as the Little Folksinger her music spans many genres and collaborators ranging between Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. The singer hails from New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is married to Kristen Ford. The first song she wrote was at the age of 14 years old. She performed them in bars and coffee shops throughout her teenage years. DiFranco graduated from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at the age of 16.
